WELCOME

Hi, I’m Amy.

Amy Tremblay, EMDR clinician and psychotherapist, in her Owen Sound therapy office.

For more than twenty years I’ve worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families through some of the hardest seasons of their lives. My background spans education, counselling psychology, trauma-informed care, and EMDR, bringing both clinical training and real-world experience to the work I do.

MY PATH

Before becoming a therapist, I spent fifteen years as an educator — which gave me a deep appreciation for how people learn, grow, adapt, and heal. That experience shapes everything about how I work today.

Now I combine those years alongside modern, evidence-based therapy to help people create meaningful and lasting change. I've sat with people through grief and anxiety, through the unraveling of relationships and the rebuilding of them, through the quiet work of learning to trust themselves again.

What I've learned is that people are rarely as broken as they fear they are. More often, they're carrying strategies that once kept them safe and no longer serve them — and the work is gently making room for something new.

WHAT I BELIEVE

How I approach the work.

My approach is integrative and tailored to the person in front of me. Depending on your needs, I may draw from EMDR, attachment-based therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and other trauma-informed modalities.

I don't believe therapy should feel scripted.

01

I don't believe people fit neatly into diagnoses.

02

I don't believe healing happens simply because we talk about problems.

03

Real change happens when we understand ourselves with curiosity instead of criticism.

04

Together we'll make sense of what's happening beneath the surface, process what no longer serves you, and develop practical ways to move forward.

BEYOND THE THERAPY ROOM

When I’m not doing therapy…

I’m navigating life just like everyone else. Raising kids, running a business, keeping up with family and relationships, and trying to find some balance in the middle of all of it. I’m navigating the many challenges life throws our way, sometimes eloquently and sometimes not so much. Sometimes I’m figuring it out rather awkwardly as I go.

I really value taking care of myself, but I also know that doesn’t always happen perfectly. For me, taking care of myself looks like trying to spend time in nature, moving my body, being with my family and my dogs, slowing down when I can, and making sure there’s still a little room for fun along the way.

Some weeks I’m better at it than others, and I think that’s part of being human. We can know what’s good for us and still struggle to do it. We can be strong and capable and still have hard days.

I bring that part of myself into my work too. I’m a therapist, but I’m also a mom, a business owner, a friend and a person trying to balance a full life and enjoy it along the way.
